A study was done in 2002 where  2 schools in North Carolina were the subject of study. One school was covered with 75%carpet the other mostly resilient tile. The study showed that airborne contaminants ,possible source of allergens, were four times higher over the tile floor then the carpeting. (study conducted by Research Triangle Institute and University of North Carolina)

Carpeting actually reduces exposure to particulates that could have adverse health affects.

How often you clean your carpets will vary for each home but a good rule of thumb is if  it is starting to look soiled then you have probably waited to long.
